Quality and economy in a job need to go hand in hand. Therefore, standardization of finishing materials is cheaper instead of working with a variety and buying in large quantities makes the price drop.
Before building the masonries of your house, never fail to waterproof the bases in order to avoid what is commonly called SALITRE, which is but soil moisture climbing up the walls.
Being that today apartments have become smaller, avoid excesses on the ceiling, use white in order not to reduce the height of the ceiling.
Before building the masonries of your house, never fail to waterproof the bases in order to avoid what is commonly called salitre, which is but soil moisture climbing up the walls. Remember that colors influence our emotional and physical state. Therefore, be careful when choosing the tones for each environment as prolonged exposure to hot colors (red, orange, yellow and ocher) provoke a slight change in body temperature, leaving people more agitated. Cold colors (blue, green, violet and grayish) cause the opposite reaction, leaving people more relaxed.
Flawless laying is synonymous to perfection and dedication. Therefore, lining facades requires some care which when followed serve to add value to any space. Here are some hints:
1. Prepare the faced before laying the linings, cleaning with a steel brush and jet wash, removing all loose particles (paint, plastering and fungi), re-plastering and allowing it to dry completely.
2. Regulate the temperature of the wall. On very hot and windy days, use stock brush and water;
3. Wet the back of the linings with stock brush and water;
4. Begin laying from the upper floor of the building;
5. Place guide ropes from the top of the building (mainly in buildings) until the ground floor;
6. Spread the laying mortar in small areas with the smooth side of the straightener;
7. Form mortar lines using the toothed side of the straightener.
8. Position the lining, leaving 5 mm joints with the help of plastic spacers;
Important: Knock on the lining with a rubber hammer, completely pressing the mortar lines and expelling the retained air;
9. Adjust the alignment and level on every new layer;
10. Remove the mortar excess from the joints and on the linings;
11. Apply a cloth on the linings, thus preventing the mortar from sticking to them;
Remark: Allows the lining to dry for 48 hours before joint sealing.
To lay in swimming pools, the procedures are the same as for walls and floors.
However, to ensure a service well done, some precautions must be taken:
- Use flexible mortars of attested quality (Tecnocola) for the laying of ceramic plaques (with waterproofing). It is important to control the curing process of the mortar, protecting from direct sunlight to increase the adherence of the ceramic plaques.
- The ceramic plaques should be with their back totally filled with mortar, preventing empty spots. Test the adherence and check of 100% of the back is covered by mortar.
- Use laying joints recommended by the manufacturer. Leave the joints open for 4 days before sealing.
- Seal with flexible joint sealants (to prevent cracks) and waterproof (prevent infiltrations).
- After 3 days of joint sealing, the swimming pool can be filled.
- Swimming pools require structural designs developed by specialists. The concrete should be receive waterproofing and controlled curing to prevent cracks.
- To prepare mortar or joint sealant, use the mixing rod as it ensures mixture homogeneity and improvement in the consistence of the grout…;
- before laying the ceramics, observe its sizes in the boxes to prevent problems in dimensional and color variations, in order not to mix or make the wrong color;
- respect the rest time after mixing the mortar or sealant with water as within this period the additive reaction occur, which function to provide plasticity of the mixture;
- spread the mortar in small areas for there not to be the formation of a layer from the period of exposure, compromising adherence to ceramic linings;
- to know if the mortar is forming any layer, touch the mortar lines applied with your fingers. If it fails to adhere to your fingers, it is because a layer has formed. If that happens, remove the mortar…
- Always use adhesive mortars of quality and origin;
- Always use spacers to leave the width of the joints uniform, therefore always leaving the linings well aligned.
- Always check the teeth of the straightener: Wrong teeth reduce the ideal quantity of mortar, risking the adherence of the lining and the quality of the service;
- Check if the quantity purchased is enough;
Apply the lining after the base is cured;
- Only use the suitable tools;
- Prepare mortar only in the quantity needed for use within two hours at most;
- For a perfect laying of the lining, press the piece well with your hands and gently knock on it with a rubber hammer;
- Do not walk on the recently layed floor;
- Never leave the cleaning of the sealant for the next day as it may be difficult to remove;
- Keep whenever possible some meters of lining for future unforeseeables.
- Prepare the mortar or the joint sealant using the mixing rod to improve workability and consistence of the grout;
- The linings can vary in dimension so before laying, observe the ceramic boxes for their sizes.
- Before laying begins, verify the tonality of the linings o ensure that they are equal.
- Respect the 15 minutes of rest before mixing the mortars and joint sealants. This procedure serves to hydrate the cement.
- Spread the mortar in small layers to prevent insufficient adherence of the plaques due to the formation of layer caused by the open weather.
- To know if the mortar is forming any layer, touch the mortar lines applied with your fingers. If it fails to adhere to your fingers, it is because a layer has formed. In this case, remove the mortar, mix again and re-apply.
The application of the mortar should take place within a maximum of 2 hours after preparation, period in which water or other products must never be added.
The blocks should be dry and clean.
To prevent joint cracks, the thickness of the mortars should not exceed 10 mm.
The mortar prepared should be protected from sunlight, rain and wind;
Never reutilize leftovers of mortar already prepared in another from a work period or day to another.
It is indicated that the professional use goggles and rubber gloves.
Keep the pack closed and out of the reach of children and domestic animals. Drink plenty of water if ingested.
In the case of contact with the eyes or skin, wash the spot with running water.
The application of the TecnoLastic with chisel should take place within a maximum of 50 minutes after preparation, period in which water or other products must never be added.
Run the tightness test after 72 hours and in case of leakage, reapply on the spot overlapping 10cm around the leak.
The material prepared should be protected from sunlight, rain and wind.
Never reutilize leftovers of the material already prepared in another from a work period or day to another.
It is indicated that the professional use goggles and rubber gloves. Keep the pack closed and out of the reach of children and domestic animals; Drink plenty of water if ingested.
In the case of contact with the eyes or skin, wash the spot with running water.
As a colored mortar for laying and joint sealing at the same time, always use clean water.
The use of dirty water may alter the color of the sealant, affecting the finishing of the job.
Tools and recipients used for mixing should also be clean to prevent differences in the tonalities and loss of joint sealant resistance.
The tiles should be dry, with their inner/back side clean.
Protect the aluminum frames by avoiding contact with the mortar during application.
Never reutilize leftovers of mortar already prepared in from one work period or day to another.
It is indicated that the professional use goggles and rubber gloves.
Keep the pack closed and out of the reach of children. Drink plenty of water if ingested. In the case of contact with the eyes or skin, wash the spot with running water.
